2.  St Ann's Church, a place for children to feel safe, have something to eat and play awhile.  Kozol meets a seven-year-old boy named Cliffie there.  Cliffie's mother has come to speak to the pastor.  She lets Cliffie go with Kozol to see the neighborhood.  On one hand, Cliffie is very much like a child eating his cookies, but on the other hand he is very much the little adult, knowing the streets, talking about seeing a boy shot, knowing people by their names and describing all the areas that they are passing through.  On their walk Cliffie needs to stop to take a couple puffs from his inhaler. Kozol mentions in his article that, "Unlike many children Kozol has met in recent years Cliffe has absolute literal faith in God."  How amazing for a seven-year-old boy to have such faith!!  What a sad state of affairs that these children that live here never really have a childhood.  How can anyone grow up in such despair?  Are all there outcomes predetermined by their environment? And where is all their priviledge?
